This is NOT Cara

Yesterday we had quite the adventure. Cara has been coughing for a few days and I think she has some allergies mixed in on top of that. (just a guess- but whenever my allergies act up, Cara seems to get a snotty nose) Well it has gotten pretty bad so daycare had us take her in to get checked out.

I wasn't worried about her until the doctor listened to her breath sounds for 2 minutes straight. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Usually not a good sign.

The pediatrician was worried about diminished breath sounds in her right lung. They did a oxygen saturation level and that took a LONG time to get up to 95%. She started out breathing at 88% and then after a few hacking coughs it got up to 92% then creeped up to 95%. So we got out of there without a breathing treatment but we did have to go get a chest x-ray.

Have you ever seen a 1 year old get a chest x-ray? They don't sit still. They don't lie still. They aren't EVER still. So some crazy person invented this barbaric looking device to keep kids in place.
Like the title of the post- This is NOT Cara. (she is way cuter!) She is much smaller and her little hands only reached to the top of the plastic and she was crying big crocodile tears. Her chin barely fit at the notch and if she ends up claustrophobic someday you will all know when it started.

Fortunately she does not have pneumonia and the chest x-ray is clear. We have a prescription for a steroid and an antibiotic if she makes any changes for the worse- i.e. high fever, more rapid breathing, or more of a barking cough like croup.

Cara is sweet but when Ryann was little and sick all she wanted to do was lie down and sleep or watch TV (even when little like Cara). Cara on the other hand wants to be held and will flop herself down at your feet and just sob until you pick her up. She changes her mind back and forth about what she wants and unfortunately we have no idea what she is asking for most of the time.

Here is to feeling better soon!

Poor thing! I hope she gets better quickly. It is NO fun having a sick baby. We'll say a little prayer for her-and you!
