Remember This?

Some of you may or not remember that Rich had major surgery on our honeymoon. We were traveling through California and he was having severe abdominal pain. They thought it was kidney stones so he stayed on narcotics for the next couple days. The pain got worse and he ended up with an appendix that had ruptured 3 times. It fortunately ruptured into his colon so it contained the infection, but part of his colon had to be removed (1/3 was taken out).

This is from 2004 hospital stay
Fast forward... for the past couple years he has been battling his "ulcer" he has been to the ER a couple times and has taken a lot of medication. He has even seen a GI specialist. Last night things got a little different. He is on a business trip to Nebraska (hoping for a promotion!) and after watching the Giants win the world series he gave me a call and let me know that his ulcer was really hurting bad.

A couple hours later he started throwing up and wasn't sure what to do. I found the nearest hospital was 2 miles away so I made him get in his car and drive to the hospital.

The normal treatment for ulcers didn't work. Neither did the morphine. I imagine they gave him some demerol which finally helped. However, this amazing ER decided they wanted to find out what was really causing him this pain. Tadah! It was his gallbladder.

His doctor called me a few minutes ago to let me know everything went very well. Infected gallbladder is now gone. Hopefully this pain has always been his gallbladder and not an ulcer- so hopefully he will be pain free.

The doctor did mention that he has a lot of scar tissue in his abdomen from his last surgery- but the doctor didn't really do anything about it except take a picture. I probably won't post that when I get it. :)

Thanks for the prayers and thoughts on our behalf. We appreciate it and feel your love.

Wow, I never realized that he was in
the hospital on your HONEYMOON! Crazy! I hope all the "ulcer" problems were GB-related too!! Hang in there Rich. Sending prayers and love your way for a happy recovery!

Hope you are feeling better Rich! Out of town in the hospital does not sound fun!
