We Love Ethan

Our thoughts and Prayers are with Cousin Ethan today. He is at UCSF undergoing some testing for what we though was a "cute eyebrow trick" that he was doing. As you can see here, he is #1 and especially brave because he is now 4 years old.
Ryann and Ethan went to the pumpkin patch but Nugs wasn't being very helpful with mommy taking pictures. Hopefully Grandma and Aunt Ashy can send some good ones our way.

Party in my crib... and everyone's invited!

When Ryann got up from her afternoon nap she screamed when I took her out of the crib. She was reaching back for it, so "ok" I will put her back in. Then she protests until I put every stuffed animal and toy in her crib for her to play with. So then I am hungry for lunch after about 15 minutes of playing.... so I grab ryann and sippy cup and make her a lunch of beans and a quesadilla.
She continued to eat and play in her crib for the next half hour. What a crazy girl!

Bad picture... but here is Ryann trying to feed me through the crib posts!

I love dirt! Dirt don't hurt.... Right mom?

Ryann had so much fun in California this past week. The best part was that she was able to spend sooo much time outside. The 70-80 degree weather was amazing!
.
.
.
Not only did we get to play in dirt at Grandma's house, but we got to feed the doves and jump on the trampoline.
Thanks Grandma!!

We love Uncle Zach

This week has been so much fun. Ryann now screams, "ASHY" whenever she hears Aunt Ashley's voice... but unfortunately this doesn't mean she is her favorite. I mean, she is her favorite Aunt who is her mothers older sister....but I do believe her favorite is Uncle Zach. Who can resist the scary, funny, silly, crazy Uncle Zach?! He teases her, tickles her, takes her for rides in laundry baskets, and trys to eat her pumpkin necklace.
Thanks Uncle Zach for the great week!

This is a picture for all the ladies...

Extended Stay

So I know I said we would be home on Friday... but that never works out quite right because Grandma's house is so much fun! Ryann and I decided to stay until tomorrow night so we could go to the pumpkin patch and get in some more shopping!!!
We miss Rich/Daddy

here is a picture from Devyn's wedding reception... what little girl wouldn't want to spend more time here at Grandmas?

Kissy Face

I am not exactly sure what I am teaching my daughter... but she loves to kiss things! She has even started making kissing noises when she has her toys kiss each other. She basically will kiss anything or anyone at anytime... well, except those rare occasions when she is being fussy and she violently shakes her head "no" when we ask for a kiss. Should I be worried? Or should I just figure she is following in her mommy's footsteps?

Ward Campout

Last night was the Foothills ward Campout. It was much better than I thought it would be. It started out with Ryann and I riding in a car with 7 other people, all of our sleeping bags, tents, air mattresses, food, and other gear. Oh the memories of the Wagner Family backpack trips! I loved it!

After the 2 hour drive to the campsite past Payson, Az, Nugs made a run for it. She ran as fast as her little legs would take her so that she could see each and every new thing. Thankfully I had these two Baker kids to keep an eye on her while I set up the tent.

I don't think she sustained any permanent damage, but Ryann definately "ate it" or "biffed it" a dozen or so times. She would take a look at her hands, wipe off the dirt and then stand back up.... very independent.... and you would have to let her do it herself or else she would throw a fit.

Other Baker family members then were so gracious and helped make meals for Nugs and I.

I love tin foil dinners and dutch oven cakes/cobblers!

Once the fire really got going I had to put Ryann in the sling. There she sat and watch comfortably for the next couple hours and finally she passed out in my arms.

Despite my worst fears of having Ryann stay awake all night long, she did eventually fall asleep. She was rudely awoken each time she fell off the air mattress (2-3 times... don't really remember), when her mom tried to make sure she was warm, and of course whenever she felt like getting up and turning on her little night light I brought for her. Most of these times she cried a bit and she really only woke up the neighboring parents in tents... the kids can pretty much sleep through anything.

The hardest part of the night was when she decided that it was time to play. She got up, realized the air mattress was something she could bounce on, rang her little bell necklace, turned on her nightlight, unzipped zippers, found some crackers, found her sippy cup, found mom's nose (which she of course poked relentlessly)lost her silky, played "rollie pollie", and then finally laid down after an hour of play.... I am sure it was an hour.... At least 45 minutes.... minimum of 30 minutes... yes, 30minutes to an hour.... I think.

this post is getting long. I will save the rest for later. :)

SAHM

The past couple days I have purely been a "stay at home mom". I still have to take my comprehensive exam and my national certification boards before I can start working as a midwife, so I have a lot of studying to do... But I decided to give myself a one week break and focus in on the love of my life.... sorry.... one of the loves of my life: Nugs This is how we play every day. It is so much fun to make her laugh. Not to mention it is so easy to make her laugh.
Don't even ask about the floaties... she is crazy

We play a lot by opening and shutting doors. Who knew that could be so much fun?

I sure love her cheesy grin. :)

First Real "Ouchie"

Ryann has sustained her first battle scar with her tricycle and the backyard cement. She loved the Bandaids on day one, but by day two they were gone. I enlarged the picture so you could all feel the "dramatic" effect of the actual wound... haha

Trouble with the Camera

So lately something weird has been going on with my camera. I feel like all of my pictures are "grainy". There has to be some setting I can switch up. Any suggestions on what could be the problem? Here is an example.

Acquire

So this is definately not my new favorite game, but I have had some fun playing it the past couple weeks with friend. Acquire is a game of mergers and acquisitions... so lots of fun for the man in your life. However, I seem to have a knack for it since I won by over $40,000 (from the loser). Anyway, it was made in 1966 and the version we have is even older than this one pictured above.
It was Rich's dad's game, so that also makes it pretty cool.
Anyway, after I played this game last night and won, I tried to be the good sport and not rub it in... well, minutes later we started playing Settlers of Catan with our friends and they beat the snot out of me... I sure wish I would have rubbed in the first win. It really would have made me a lot happier at the end of the night.

9/11

Whenever I stop and think about the significance of this day I feel remorse. However, it is not what you think.

.

I feel remorse because when I was sitting in my early morning calculus class I kept thinking how annoying andrea goldstein was for making such a huge deal out of nothing.

.

I feel remorse because I watched the replay after replay and all I could do was stare at the TV with mind numbing thoughts.

.

I feel remorse because I didn't really care.

.

I feel remorse because people were crying for the country and not for me, my sister, and my close friends.

.

I sat there that day and cried because only the day before we had found out that Chris Jones had died.

.

I sat there that day and cried because I knew there was significance and history happening in front of my eyes but I was young and had just experienced the death of a friend.
.
So this is what 9/11 means to me. It is another year of reflection for me. Another year knowing that my life was touched at such an early age by another. Another year knowing how much I need to take every day for what it is worth. Another year knowing that loved ones are not soon forgotten. Another year knowing that my sister and her friends are strong for always keeping memories alive.
.
Another year wishing I had done more snowboarding

Viva Las Vegas

Nugs and I are off this morning to Las Vegas for a quick 2 day trip. We can't wait to see Aunt Ashley and Cousin Ethan. Daddy will meet up with us tonight after work and then all day tomorrow we are going to the enormous childrens expo.... I can't wait!

Hopefully when I see all that amazing children's stuff I will remember that I am a starving student and do not have a job yet. Eeeek! It is not fun having a budget...

Ode to KJ

Here is Ryann's best friend Kennedy. We love her and we love that they play together so much. I really can't say much more than that we love her and we love her parents. They have been the best of friends this past year. Thanks for everything!

New Hair Clippies!

Please ignore the photogenic baby below... haha... great picture... she'll kill me some day... I am really posting this to show off the cute hair clips I made this weekend.
My girlfriend Natalie and I got together and made some adorable hair clips! I will post more pictures of them later, but we have seen these around and they are soooo easy to make. So, needless to say, Ryann has had her hair done almost every day because it is just to cute with the hairclips to not do her hair.

I'm Ready to go to Grandmas!

Rich decided that Ryann could get this tinkerbell suitcase since it was 75% off. She absolutely loves it and drags is all over the house. Now all she needs to do it pack it with some clothes so she can fly off to Grandma's house. Is that okay grandma?

FlashBack Friday

This isn't really the most flattering picture... 4 years ago after Rich and I had been married only a couple months. We were both at BYU, but as you can see Rich still wasn't shaving every day.
This is a good picture for me to post because whenever I ask Rich to shave his face he says, "I hate shaving because I shaved every day when I was at BYU for blah blah blah blah"

So here is PROOF! Rich DID NOT SHAVE EVERY DAY when he was at BYU, so, he should really shave more often.... For me :)

However, he knows I sure love him with a clean shaven or not so clean shaven face. So I doubt I will win this one.

18 Month Stats

Ryann has been 18 months for 3 weeks now, but we were waiting to go to the pediatrician until her insurance kicked in. Since it has, here are her stats:

Weight: 22lbs 2 ounces (10%)

Height: 32 1/2 inches (75%)

She had a growth spurt! She was short and chubby one day and tall and skinny the next. I love her!

Longest time in between posts?!?!

I am very surprised with myself... you know I must be very busy without a new post every day.

I am almost finished with school! I have approximately 50 hours of clinicals left which will last me all of one more week! Then it will be full time studying until I take my graduation test October 1st. Once I pass this test I will have my Masters degree in Nursing!

Then I will study again like crazy, get fingerprinted, pay 750$, apply for licensure, get prescriptive authorities, and take another test! Then I will officially be able to deliver babies on my own!
Oh yeah, in the meantime I will be searching for jobs. :)

.

.

Now back to Nugs... Last night she was playing with my phone at the church. She broke it apart and she took the back of the phone and shoved it into the vent. She, oh so very cute, started saying, "uh oh, uh oh, uh oh" and pointing into the vent. That is when Rich and I discovered the missing back to the phone. Rich had to go find a screwdriver and unscrew the entire vent to get it back... Thanks Nug

Elder Chile

Since Rich didn't get to do anything "fun" for labor day we decided to go out to dinner with some friends to Chili's. They are doing a fundraiser for St Judes Children's Hospital so they had you donate money and you could color a chile. Well, for some reason rich decided to make a missionary chile. So here he is... so proud of his work... Elder Chile
Isn't he cute?
