Sneak Peak

Here is a Halloween Sneak Peak of Nugs:
Can you tell what she is?
Now we just need to find a costume for CK

Pizza Please!

We let Nugs make her own pizza for dinner Sunday night. She had a lot of fun and we tried to get a picture of her saying, "Cheese!" with her cheesy pizza. However, she wanted to steal the show and we barely got the pizza in the background.
See that little pizza in the background :)
She did good. Now, she didn't eat it, but it looked good.

Look at Me!

Little Miss CK is almost 5 months old and is starting to balance herself sitting up. She uses her hands and a little help from mommy, but she sure loves sitting up!

Gotta Love Her

Nugs didn't take a nap last wednesday. Instead she thought it would be fun to climb from her bed, onto her dresser, and then onto the little entertainment center in her room that has her fish tank on it. Once she was to this point she decided to take the entire LARGE bottle of fish food and proceed to feed the fish.
Guess what? It was not a good idea. She quickly realized this as she tried to clean it up and got herself all wet and fish food was stuck all over her. Once she figured out she was going to be in trouble she ran to her door and started pounding on it (she doesn't get out of her room when we put her in there) and she was saying, "Sorry, Sorry, Sorry" over and over again.
.
I immediately knew she had did something wrong and she took my hand and led me to the fish tank. I tried to rescue all of the fish but one (his name was rex) didn't make it. Rich and I have both cleaned the tank on separate occasions since then but it still stinks and looks gross.
.
I think tomorrow I am off to buy one of those sucker fishes and some new filters. Maybe some febreze too.

Dirt Don't Hurt

I had to wait a few days to post these pictures because I was pretty annoyed with these cute girls when I found them outside playing in the dirt. I guess when you turn kids loose in the backyard you have to be prepared for anything- but I was so overwhelmed with the fishtank incident (see tomorrow's post!) and watching 4 kids that I was sooo done.KJ and Nugs thought it would be hilarious to throw dirt at each other. They did. They did a lot. They did a lot and they laughed the entire time.

It was a mess to clean out of their hair- but Rich got home early to help me out. He is a lifesaver!
Can't you just see how much fun they were having? When these girls don't fight they are the cutest things ever!

Mix Up?

Look at the beautiful brown eyes and gorgeous brown hair! I don't think anyone will ever mistake this sweet heart for one of my babies.(sorry about the pacifier Nat- KJ thought it was funny!)
Especially when my babies have those same blue eyes and blonde hair as me!
That cute little Lucy Bug up top doesn't know it yet but she and CK are gonna be bestest friends, just like their big sisters. Stay tuned for tomorrow to see how much fun Nugs and her bestest friend have when they play together... or should I say how much trouble they get into when they play together?

Love It

I love being a Midwife. I love helping women bring their babies into the world. I don't have the ideal job situation, but I am working on that and praying for more opportunities.
.
This past week my partner was out of town and I was BUSY! Here is just one of the cute babies I helped to catch. Might I add it was an amazing birth.

Popcorn

Are you ready for it? Ready for what you say? Ready for POPCORN POPPING?!?!?!

Oh, you so are ready.

Nugs really likes to play with my camera now... so whenever I pull it out instead of posing or smiling for me she reaches for it- like this:Next video I take when we are singing I will try not to sing so loud- it kind of ruins the funny effect of Nugs. Her actions are the best but it just takes awhile for her to use them when she sings.

As demonstrated here Nugs is lacking somewhat in the speech, but this is a huge improvement over the past few weeks. I really think preschool has helped her a lot. Last night at dinner she picked up the peas we were eating and counted one to ten very clearly... well, she forgot nine, but who really cares about nine anyway??

Giants!

FYI- Big inside joke here so go ahead and pretend to laugh- but this is really for Rich's Family's benefit...

I am sure you didn't notice last night at the Giants game, but Rich was able to go with a famous/not so famous movie star. Steven Seagal made his appearance by sitting next to Rich with his other brother Phil. Here is a picture of Steven in my living room with Rich and his brother Phil (steven is the middle one- kind of squint your eyes really tight and you can see it)

I am sure glad they all had fun at the game. Maybe next time Steven visits I can get him in a chef's hat and maybe with some sweet action shots.

Thanks for reading and humoring me on this one... I really needed to give a shout out to Rich's side of the family because they are daily followers of the blog and an inside joke is just gonna make their day.

Rice Cereal

I had a few extra minutes today so I thought I would try to feed CK some rice cereal. She is almost 5 months and I am not in a hurry to start her eating "solids" aka "slime" but I thought since I had some time I would do it.For her first time she did awesome! Now I am not sure if we will do this daily- I think for now just whenever we can fit it in. We did take a little video, basically CK likes her thumb better than rice cereal, but whatever.

Our cute little Nugget #2 cracks me up.

Swim time

Today we went swimming and it was a little chilly! Well, it was 94 degrees when we went and the nights have been getting down to the 70s, so it took a little while for Nugs to get used to the pool. So she spent a lot of time sitting on the edge playing with her random toys.Really, all this girl needs is random things and she is happy for days.
She was a daddy's girl today (she switches on and off between the two of us) and that was a little trying for Rich since she threw some major temper tantrums. We have been trying to give her choices but she always refuses both choices... hmmmm... smart and stubborn cookie on our hands here.
This is where I spend some of my time when we are swimming. Under the shaded area with CK. This girl is so pale that even with SPF55 we are afraid to keep her out in the sun.

Good Night

This girl is great and happy almost all the time. She doesn't often do this- but when she is tired she just falls asleep and doesn't really fuss (knock on wood!). I am a very strict sleep schedule person so my girls do the whole bath, nighttime routines at the same time every night. It works well considering CK is now sleeping 12 hours straight at night (6-6) and then nurses and sleeps a couple hours more. And this is all without rice cereal!Anyway, with the hustle and bustle of the day and me sitting at the computer and Rich playing with Nugs, CK just decided that if no one was going to put her to bed she would just do it herself.

Night Night Princess. Now it is time for mommy to sleep.
.
I delivered 7 babies in 36 hours. Sleep is for wimps.
.
Not to mention the mental exhaustion from the loss of my sweet cousin and her unborn baby. Please include them, her husband who is in the ICU, her sweet 15 month old daughter (who is unharmed), and her family in your thoughts and prayers. They were in a car accident today.

Good Morning!

Good morning world. We are off for a fun day of work and daycare and preschool!
We love you!

Locks of Love

I was getting really really sick of long hair. I have been trying to grow it out for awhile (FOREVER!) to send to locks of love. I went to get my roots touched up today and I was telling my long hair funk woes to my girlfriend and she quickly pulled out a ruler and said she would cut off 10 inches now!!

Boy was I excited! I knew Rich would be excited too because he is probably the only man in the world who likes short hair and my long hair I am sure was bugging him (not that we would ever tell me because he is that sweet. :p )
Sorry about the unflattering picture- I think the first rule of photography is don't take a picture of a woman with 10 pounds of baby weight left from below- but I needed a picture of my two piggy tails that are 10 1/4 inches long! The picture is because Rich didn't want to get off of the couch. Like I said, he is sweet- but after 2 hours of softball last night his legs are a little sore.

So I don't blame him. Now I am off to try running with my new short locks.

Daily Nuggets

I started this blog saying that I will have "daily nuggets" little things that I learn every day from my babies. Well, I have strayed from that but today I will go back to it.

Since being in preschool Nugs comes home with a lot of random stuff. I don't know what to do with it all. So I guess I will just take pictures of the good ones so we have them as memories. Because my house is already cluttered to the max! Here is one of her pieces of artwork from nursery.

It was time to throw this one away. Why? Because she has eaten almost all of the rice and macaroni off of it. Everytime she eats a piece she comes to me and says, "yucky" and spits it out in my hand.So my daily nugget today is don't eat macaroni artwork. Thank goodness she knows the difference between food and yarn and sandpaper though. She hasn't tried to eat the non-food products.

Another nugget is "randomness inspires the imagination". Nugs came to me the other day pleading to me to make E.T. ride the lion. It just doesn't work. I am sorry. E.T. rides in baskets on bicycles. Not lions.

Pedicures

After finding that slightly embarrassing but ever so sweet post by my sister (sneaky blog hacker!) I figured I should talk a little more about her trip out here.
(it might encourage more visitors!)

We swam a lot. Something Erin likes to do- check out how white she makes CK look. We relaxed. We shopped. We got donuts. We made tacos. We watched movies and "what not to wear". We talked about life and love and family and babies and everything in between. We spent some time with a new mommy at the hospital. We laughed. We took pictures. We went running. And probably most importantly we got PEDICURES!Erin here is trying to show off her toes that match CK's outfit.
We took CK with us to get the pedicures and all the sweet ladies were talking to her in Vietnamese, making silly faces, and making her belly laugh. Very fun to have such a social baby!

One of the ladies told us while CK had the hiccups that when babies have hiccups it means they need to poop. Never heard this one before. But CK did have a nice surprise for her daddy that day, so maybe?
Finally a picture close enough of the polka dot toes so you can actually see that they match!

Saturday, September 12, 2009

So I am being sneaky here, posting on my sister's blog, but I just have to. I am visiting from Napa, Chicago, wherever one would call my home and I have to spend a moment in praising my big sister.

I am so proud of her I can hardly stand it. I'll start with her job, which I might add is not just a job to her. She absolutely loves helping these women--you can tell by the way she talks about it and the way she talks to her patients. I only hope when I start working after law school that I can love my profession half as much as she does.

Next, she has the most amazing little girls. I was able to spend yesterday watching Cara and Ryann and I have never seen such happy kids (except maybe my other sister's two :)). Honestly, Ryann is so giggly, independent, smart...and when Cara isn't napping or eating, she is smiling. I would be too, if Britti were my mom. How she juggles two girls, a husband, a full-time job...I have NO idea. I can hardly handle myself and law school, let alone a husband, job and kids. Yet she does all things with such grace. I am scared of being a mom, but I have to say having Britti as my midwife and only a phone call away ready to answer questions, I think I will be okay.

Now I just need the husband, house and job. It will be a while, but once the time comes, I have quite the example to learn from.

Britti, I love you and I am so proud of you. I am so blessed to have you as my sister and am so glad I am able to visit when I do. I wish it were more often, of course, but until we are closer together, Skype will have to do.

I-Pod

Nugs found my IPod and loves it. She dances like crazy and gets really upset if you turn the music down. Good thing she doesn't really know how to keep the earbuds in her ears or else this little one would have hearing problems very soon.

playing with auntie Erin

Here is what happens when you play soccer/bowling/catch with Auntie Erin. So much fun for everyone involved.Well, almost everyone.
If you want to know how the grandma and baby went from picture #1 to picture #2 check out the video below.

Reading Books

Nugs loves to read books and today I found her reading CK a book. It was really sweet.
p.s. Auntie Erin comes in a few hours!!

Pretty

This is what happens when you get your pretty girl all dressed up and you put a cute clip in her hair... the cute clip is sooo fun to play with but it has to stay in her hair.
But don't tell her that if she takes out the clip she won't be pretty anymore.

Because it is a rough day when someone threatens you and says you wont be pretty if you don't have a clip in your hair.

Halloween Already

I know it is september... but seriously... there is candycorn and halloween candy and costumes all over the place. We went swimming today and it was 100 degrees. I can't start thinking about halloween already!

All I know is this year I will not put my baby is a sweaty hot chicken costume. Sorry Nugs for doing this to you for your first halloween. You were pretty dang cute though!
We tried for over 20 minutes to get a decent picture of these girls together. By the end of the picture session they were so done.

If the weather was cooler I don't think I would be complaining about Halloween decorations. It is just way too hot to think about the fall. By the way... I really want it to be fall!

Good Old Family Time

Since Devyn and Jason couldn't come this weekend I made sure to invite my cousin Rob and his girlfriend/fiance Lindsey over. The girlfriend/fiance is a funny story, but not really bloggable at this time. (For you hardcore bloggers- I am sure bloggable is a word!)

Rob is my favorite cousin who lives in Arizona :) Not only is he the manager at California Pizza Kitchen (at tempe marketplace) and he has this neat yellow manager card that magically pays for our food when we go, but he is also hilarious and it is always fun to see him.

He lives out in West Phoenix so it is sort of a long drive for him to come out here, but we were excited they came. Nugs proceeded to show them every single one of her toys and she counted to ten for them and ate a lot of hot sauce and not much dinner. (she did eat a fabulous pink lemonade cupcake made by Natalie though!)This picture was pretty forced by my mother who said that since my Aunt (Rob's mom) looks at the blog every morning I need to get a picture of her son up there. Nug's had just gotten her ponytail taken out so her hair is even crazier looking than normal.

Come visit us again soon Rob and Lindsey!! Have fun at Disneyland next week and happy birthday Lindsey.

Where's Waldo?

Did you find her? CK that is- dressed in her red stripes like waldo...

Here she is!

Horsie

It is so easy to please my cute little nugget. She got another poop on the potty prize- an inflatable horse? Yes. She uses it in the bathtub since we don't have a pool. And well, she uses it everywhere else too.She was saying a prayer the other day and in the middle she says "Potty" so I quickly open my eyes (the rest of the way- you gotta keep at least 1 eye open during prayers when you have a toddler) and ask her if she has to go potty. She looks at me weird and says, "AMEN" and proceeds to eat her food.
.
Well, I finally put it together. During all of this potty training we pray every night that Nugs will go peepee/poopoo on the potty. So she was just praying for that too!
.
That has to make someone else beside me laugh- right?

And a little video of the horsie and Nugs for your viewing pleasure.

Super Baby!

Here is my "Superbaby!" She is so fun and she handled her shots today like a champ! I helped give them to her today because last time they did the shots one at a time so I figured we would do it faster this time. She is in the 25% for weight at 12lbs 8ounces. 24" long which makes her in the 50%. And her sweet little head jumped from the 3% (2 months ago) to the 30% this month! Yeah for Brain power and Yeah for small heads when delivering vaginally and unmedicated!
(I am sure that is TMI for some of you!)

At our house we like to make CK fly. We play superman sometimes and Nugs will lie down on her back and put her feet up in the air and we put CK on Nug's feet and pretend that she is flying. I will have to get a picture for you because it is hilarious.
****post note**** I lied. CK is a drama queen. She has been upset and acting hurt all day even with tylenol and motrin. Nugs never even cried when she got her shots- let alone hours later.

LOVE-EM

These silly girls are so much fun. Ck is at that fun stage where anything she grabs goes directly to her mouth. For example- my cell phone. GROSS! (we are building up the immune system- right?)
.
Tomorrow is CK's 4 month visit and shots. Stats will be posted tomorrow.
