Off we go!

I know I am back dating these posts--- but here is us on our way to Napa. We had to keep things quiet but we were on our way for a quick 1 1/2 day trip to spend some time with the family and be there when my dad was sustained as the Bishop of my church growing up.
Ryann has become quite the traveler. She hardly fussed and she only had one accident. And I blame that accident on uncle zach. Don't let this little Diva fool you. She has quite the set of lungs on airplanes and when she doesn't get into bed at her normal time of 6:00pm.

Final Product

After a long night of carving pumpkins on saturday we finally got out pumpkin put out on the front porch. Ryann loved it so much out there with the lights off that she cried when we made her come inside for a bath. Too bad that when Halloween actually comes this pumpkin will be rotten because of the super heat.
Nice blurry scary pumpkin.

Sitting Pretty

With a clean room- maybe a black and white photo with just the yellow dress highlighted- and some editing this has the potential to be a pretty sweet picture. Unfortunately I don't do any of those things and I just have a sweet girl sitting pretty watching her fishies. She sat here for about 10 minutes just in awe.

What happy girls I have.
Most of the time.
Some of the time?
No... Most of the time I am sure.

Pumpkin Party

Saturday night we had a bunch of friends over for some pumpkin carving fun! The night started out like this- lots of kids and parents mostly doing the pumpkin carving.
Rich was looking all around for Ryann but she was having so much fun playing with friends that she wasn't very interested in the pumpkin.However- little Nick here was very determined to carve the most amazing pumpkin ever. He sat and worked so hard and ended up with an awesome pumpkin.
The girls here (ryann, madison, and kennedy) had fun eating their pizza on the small bench. Ryann was the only one who wouldn't smile. Finally Nugs was interested in the pumpkin her daddy was carving. I will post finished pictures soon. And finally the night ended with roasting marshmallows. Very close parental supervision of course. Ryann did not like the marshmallows but she loved roasting them.Rex here was attempting to explain marshmallow roasting to Kennedy, but it was just too much. All she wanted was to eat the marshmallows.

I don't blame her.

Awesome Me!

Pancakes for sunday breakfast! Made especially for my sweet family. Just as sweet as the look on Ryann's face.
When I made this "mickey mouse" pancake I showed it to her and said, Who is this? She then Said, "TOOTLES!" Tootles is on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the disney channel. It sure made me laugh.

And how awesome am I? Oh yes- I made special pancakes for my hubby.

Down Time

This is what our family does after Cara goes to bed. We play and we are silly and we basically lets Ryann do whatever she wants to do.
This picture here is when she wanted to jump on the bed and pull the chain on our ceiling fan. She tried standing on daddy to reach it- but she was just a little too far away. So we thought of some lazy ideas (rather than just lift her up) and this video is what we came up with.

We were doing this for about 5 minutes before I realized it should be video taped. I am not going to apologize for the messy room because I decided it is way more fun to play after work than it is to clean.

Cleaning is what saturdays are for.

Sweater time?!

We busted out the first sweater of the year. And by the time we got to daycare it was taken off and put in the bag. But it sure looked good for that hour it was on.

She wore this cute new outfit that she got from Auntie Katie awhile ago. LOVE IT!

Ryann and Cara

I have recently had a few things brought to my attention regarding how I write about my girls in my blog.
~I use their nicknames~
If you missed this I am not sure you should be reading my blog- come on I know there are some weird names out there- but Nugs? That is just plain mean.
I have never had a problem using their nicknames because this is what I call them the majority of the day. However...
1. My Aunt who faithfully reads the blog daily sometimes forgets my girl's names. (Probably a good reason to start using their real names in the blog.)
If the reason I didn't use their names was to protect them from a stranger yelling for them to get in their car or whatever- it wouldn't work because they respond to both their real names and their nicknames.
2. For the past couple days when I call for "Nugs" she looks at me and says, "I Ryry"(Probably another good reason to start using their real names in the blog.)
If the reason I use a nickname is because I want the girls to have nicknames then it doesn't really work if Ryann doesn't like her nickname. I am not sure what she is telling me- but maybe she is starting to learn some identity here and we need to call her by Ryann, or by the name she calls herself, "RyRy" (pronounced Rye- Rye)
3. Ryann might be getting confused between CK and Cara. She doesn't associate CK with Cara even though mom and dad do. (probably another good reason to start using real names in real life.)
So basically you can expect to start seeing their real names and I am going to start trying to call Nugs "Ryann" or "RyRy" more often to help her develop her sense of self. And I will also be using Cara instead of CK so much because it will help Ryann not get so confused. And it will help my aunt remember their real names. :)
I love you Aunt Barbara!!!

Bubbles

Nugs is learning the fabulous art of blowing bubbles. It makes a nice sticky mess all over the floor but she has so much fun that it doesn't matter (most days).
Look at that face below- she is so determined and working so hard to blow these bubbles.

Did I mention my favorite part about bubbles?

They kept her entertained for over an hour!

My Early Riser

Having one child who likes to sleep and another one who doesn't makes life a little strange sometimes. Nugs has finally gotten used to sleeping through CK's 5:30am wakings. I try to grab CK as soon as I hear her talking and then I feed her and try to get her back to sleep.

If I put her back to sleep in her crib with Nugs in the room then they both wake up and Nugs gets cranky without her sleep. So then I try to get her to fall asleep with me- but that isn't fun. It is so much more fun to poke mommy in the eye and grab her nose and lips.

So then she is ready for a nap by 7:00 and then I have to wake her up for daycare at 7:30.

Haven't quite figured this out yet. Any suggestions?

Princess Pumpkin

Nug's face says it all. She is so excited about the princess pumpkin she and her daddy made!
Thanks Grandma for sending these parts to us.
She loves it so much she gave the princess kisses.

I'm So Blue

This innocent looking pen startled me last night. Somehow Nugs snuck it into the bath. Do you know what blue/green markers do when you play with them in the tub?You don't? Well, you can guess I am sure. But if you don't want to guess then just take a look at the bath water below.

Oh yeah- totally Blue. It took me quite awhile to figure out the cause because Nugs was trying to hide the pen from me.

It made me think of the time my dad dyed the punch at girls camp with methylene blue and it made everyone's pee turn blue. Haha.

All Grown Up

Some days I think CK is growing too fast, then I realize I can still put her in 0-3 month sweaters and 3 month dresses. Not for long though. I think this weekend we will be pulling out the boxes of 6 month clothes!!
.
It is kind of fun having babies that grow average. They fit just along the curve and change their clothes sizes at the right times. And sometimes they can fit into smaller clothes so they get used longer! I have a lot of patients whose babies are in 12 month clothes at 4 months but shopping for my kiddos is just so simple because they fit their sizes.
.
Makes it nice for grandmas and aunties too.
.
Not that I am hinting that Nugs is almost a 3T and has no winter clothes.
.
Oh wait- yesterday I just posted that we have record breaking temps. I guess we might not need winter clothes (aka long sleeve t shirts and a pair of pants) for this year.

Cookies!

Some of you may have noticed Nugs is always in her underwear. Well, yes... us here in Arizona are often hot because we try to save money by keeping the AC up. Actually we just turned our AC off- on October 11, 2009. Except I think we will be turning it back on tomorrow. Record high temps in the forecast. I am talking 100 degrees. OUCH!
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to have Nugs help me bake cookies. She lost interest at the point where she figured out she could pick out the chocolate chips and eat them without me saying "No"

But they tasted delicious. I think Nugs will like to bake just like her mommy.Perfect chocolate chip cookies.

Bows

I love little baby bows. I love my little baby. Did you know this little baby is making a lot more noises now?"bah bah bah" "mah mah mah" and "dah dah dah" are her favorites. She also makes little raspberry noises with her lips. Love it! Oh yeah- she is getting loud too.

Surprise

I love surprises! I got a package in the mail the other day with some winnings of mine from my friend April's blog and she included this cute, vintage inspired ring. So perfect for the fall! Nugs takes a look at it and says, "Pretty Mommy"

Breakfast time

Breakfast time here on the weekends turns pretty interesting. Usually the girls eat breakfast with Miss Mary but on the weekends we get to fend for ourselves. Nugs thinks it is hilarious to push CK's highchair all over the kitchen and then back to me so I can give her a bite. Here is a little video of it all.

This video was yesterday- but it happened again today.

Who Would Have Thought?

I never would have thought I would be the mom who likes to make her kids match. But I do. Oh I really really do. However, thankfully for the girls, and every other party involved, I don't have that many clothes that match. And I do practice self control so my bank account is thankful too. These are matching outfits that we got for CK's shower- I need to have the girls get professional pictures done some day and maybe I will use these.
If you look really closely at the picture below you might notice that Nug's pants are on backwards. She insisted on putting them on herself. Oh well

Bouncer

Our friends let us borrow their bouncer a couple days ago and CK has found it to be loads of fun. We usually have to clean out baby dolls and stuffed animals before we put her in it, and occasionally Nugs tries to get in, but overall we are having a blast.

This video makes me a little motion sick, but for the grandmas and aunties and uncles it shows how CK is growing up!

Nuggy is silly.
Even with the random piles and messes and teeth brushing frustrations she still makes us smile.

Piles. Piles. Piles.

There are piles all over my house. Piles of random crap. Todays pile was everything filled with loose change. The tennis shoe had about 78 cents in it. The pumpkin had over $3. The boot had 10 cents or so and the frosted flakes box had less than 50 cents.
Why oh why?

Sometimes this happens

Sometimes you get your daughter ready for the day and then you go to get yourself ready for the day and you already forgot how you dressed your daughter.
Then you match. Then you can't decide if it is "cute and fun" or "throw up in my mouth" disgusting that a mom and daughter would match. Poor CK probably felt left out because she wasn't matching us.
.
I just better not do this when my girls are teenagers. Then I would really be in trouble.

Buzz

Nugs likes Buzz, Cars, Nemo, and robots way better than princess panties. So boy "panties" for now and that is a-okay

Time for a new camera?

After taking a couple of pictures yesterday and having them come out looking like this I was pretty concerned. Why was my camera making my pictures look bad? Was it time for a new camera?
Well, then I realized Nugs has been playing with my camera so I cleaned the lens.

Once again. Just a dirty lens. No new camera for me.
My cute matching girls in their Halloween shirts!
I sure love them!

My sweet friend April is having a BLOG SALE and she is cleaning out all of her closets! She is very trendy and has adorable things for little boys (2T-4T) and cute 10 year old or so girl things. She says today she is going to empty out her closet- so I will be checking back for that.

I am talking about 7 for all mankind jeans for 5$ and stuff. Check it out!
