Squealer

Nugs often squeals in pure delight when she is playing with Uncle Zach. Take a look and see in video #1.

(Someone should warn that girl to keep cell phones away from water.)

She also likes to run away from Uncle Zach because she thinks it is hilarious. See example in video #2

Baby Shower

So this picture basically looks fabulous of all of my sisters and my mom, but horrible of me. It looks a little better up close because up close you can see that my eyes are open. But from far away they look closed completely. Maybe it is that my cheeks have gotten so fat during pregnancy that it always makes my eyes look closed... Oh ok, I don't really think that is the reasoning for the closed eye picture- but my cute sisters are so skinny so it is hard to compare! I also like this picture because my cute preggo sister ashley actually looks preggo! She is also having a girl and she is due about 10 weeks after CK is due.
.
Oh- the baby shower was amazing. My sweet best friends put it on for me and the food was delicious, the gifts were amazing and the company couldn't have been better.

Remeber when...

Remember when it was so cool to hide in the clothes racks at the store from your mom? Well, eventually you aren't allowed to do that anymore... but when Uncle Zach is in town it is pretty much free game!
It is Cousin Ethan in the pillows at Target!!

Spring Training Fiasco

So last night we started out with the entire family (minus Cory, Katie, and Jason) by going to a Spring Training Game- Giants vs Cubs. We were super excited and having a blast. It was pretty windy and they actually ended up calling the game early because of the wind. Too bad Rich and I weren't there for that part...Minutes after this above picture was taken with Zach and Rich- we had a little abdominal pain issues arise. We are thinking it is a stomach ulcer- but we are not sure- and the ER doctor is not sure- and basically ER doctors don't really care about solutions- just about making the pain go away.Which is nice- because pain is not fun. After a GI cocktail (numbing meds for the stomach), two doses of morphine, labs, x-rays, phenergan, and demerol, we finally have a sleeping Rich (as shown above). The pain came back after we were discharged home and the medicine wore off- but after 6 more hours of being patient the pain finally subsided.
.
We are going to a real GI doctor on Tuesday. Hopefully we'll get some answers and solutions soon.
.
Wouldn't he have looked better in a laborlooks hospital gown?On a better note- Isn't Cousin Ethan cute? Nugs and him have been having a blast playing together!

Uncle Zach

Uncle Zach always teaches us the funnest things! Like... running through the sprinklers! Nugs had so muh fun and came back inside soaking wet.

Not wet from the potty training... which by the way is going fabulous the past couple days!

Thanks for asking.

Guacamole

Nugs loves Guacamole. Nugs loves all food in general if she is in the mood to eat it. She definitely gets that from her father. I believe she has inherited his love for Mexican food. Not only do the pictures below describe it (i wouldn't start eating guacamole until a few years ago!), but Miss Mary at daycare feeds her sliced up jalapenos, chili powder, and all sorts of homemade salsas and rice. I am so thankful for the variety of foods Nugs will eat, because I know I was sure a picky eater growing up.

Snowflake, Arizona

I spent the past24 hours with 20 young women from my church. They were wonderful, polite, helpful, gracious, and everything I could have wished for from an amazing group of girls. We drove 4 hours to this AMAZING cabin/lodge/ginormous manner in the woods. The above picture was the view from the front porch. The picture below is of the amazing fireplace. The girls had to sleep on the floor. I was one of the lucky ones who got a bed. Might I add- it was my own bed. The other rooms were full of husband and wife couples. I got my own bed because of my current preggo situation. Let me tell you. It was an amazing night sleep. Probably had to do with how exhausted I was and how the temperature could be controlled from my bedside and it was an amazing 74 degrees. Ahhhhh...And these are the girls. So much fun. So sweet. So willing to help out.But this is the real reason we came. We were able to attend the LDS temple in Snowflake, Arizona. The workers were wonderful and the spirit was present. We were able to serve over 200 people today who weren't able to help themselves.
This 24 hours was well worth the drive, the exhausted state, the amazing food (homemade pizza!), and the company.

Milestones

Staying at home with Nugs for the first year and a half was amazing. I was able to watch her grow and develop and I was personally able to experience all of her "firsts". I was there when she started to crawl, stand up, walk, and oh so much more. It was wonderful.
.
However, yesterday Nugs hit a milestone that I wasn't able to witness because she is at daycare now. I thought long and hard about how I felt about this... I knew this day would come... I knew that me going back to work to help support my family was the best decision... I knew that she will continue to grow and I can't watch her every second... and then I smiled...
.
and then I laughed...
.
and then I celebrated...
.
and then I shouted in joy...
.
and then I text messaged my family...
.
all because I MISSED the MILESTONE...
.
Yesterday Nugs pooped on the potty...
and I missed it. And I didn't have to clean it up. And I didn't have to wipe her butt. That cute plumber's crack isn't so cute when there is poop on it.I think we need one of these to help Nugs and Elmo go potty together.

Do you have a leak?

Well, if so... you are in luck!

This is the cutest plumber's crack I have ever seen!

Since using the BumGenius Diapers Nugs has had a very... well let's say... she has had quite a lot of junk in the trunk.

And now that we switched to panties her pants have a hard time staying up.

It is definitely worth no diapers to have a plumber's crack. I will take it any day!

Happy St Patty's Day!

Today St Patty's Day was quite uneventful. I went to work wearing my green and I don't think that Rich even dressed up nugs in green. Oh well. The past St Patty's Days weren't that eventful either.
2007- look at this tiny little baby! I can't believe I am gonna have another one of these soon.

2008- we had a picnic with friends and Aunty Devy was there and Nugs ate LOTS of watermelon.

Some day when the girls are bigger I will do fun things like Laurel

Positive Reinforcement

So we have been potty training for a couple weeks now. We decided to go the slow and steady route because we don't really feel that Nugs is quite ready to be potty trained. Anyway, she is potty trained at daycare but not so much at home. We were trying to just make it how it is and not really reward her with anything special except for praise. Well, she figured it out quickly that she didn't want to do it that way. She wanted incentive. So... we broke down and are trying positive reinforcement with this little beauty below.
Costco cakes are amazing! Every once in awhile I feel that if I use the potty I should get a treat too... but then I realize I am very pregnant and I pee a lot...which means I would be the size of a whale by the time I delivered if I used this little trick.
.
So today we had NO accidents, but she still will not poop in the potty. Oh well. It will come eventually. Hopefully. Right?

All things Nemo

We spend a lot of the day talking about "Nemo" and reading about "Nemo" and watching "Nemo" and finding "Nemo" stickers. We love "Nemo"
.
I purposely hid my face due to the fact I delivered 3 babies this AM- one at 4:00, one at 5:30, and one at 7:15

Pull Your Heart Out

This poor girl is sicky... throwing up and coughing and running a fever. We go in tomorrow to figure out what it is. Needless to say potty training is put on hold for today and tomorrow at least.

Anyone want to come make her feel better? Grandma? Aunties?

Pay it forward

The first 3 people to leave a comment on this post will receive a small handmade (or possibly store-bought) gift from me during this year. When and what will be a surprise. Might be a surprise to me too. There's a small catch though: you have to post this same thing on your own blog and then come back and leave a comment telling me you're in.Remember, only the first 3 comments receive the gift!Hummm...who will be it be??

Nugget #2 is rapidly growing! Since i have less than 2 months I guess it is about time. And... I finally finished all the laundry and put away all of her clothes. My house is returning to normal now.

Relaxing Day Off

Since I have started taking call this past month I am allowed a couple days out of the office. I haven't really needed the days so I stay around and work and see patients. But I decided it was about time to take a day off and relax.
.
Ha...Ha...Ha...
.
Did I really think I would be able to relax?
.
I have about 1 million things to do before this little nugget #2 makes her entrance into the world.

Here is picture #1
I pulled all 15 huggies boxes out of the garage that were filled with all of Nugs old clothes and since I did a bad job of organizing when I stored them, I went through all of them this morning and pulled out all the 0-6 months clothes and have started the process of washing them.
.
The above picture is the first load- the picture below is what I have left to wash and organize and hang up.

As for the rest of the clothes I organized them nicely so I will be able to quickly locate what I need to when Nugs #2 is ready for them.

.

And I really have forgotten how small these little newborn clothes are. I deliver babies almost every day and it was still a shock to see how small the clothes are that are supposed to fit Nugs #2 when she comes out.

Potty Training

So this is what potty training looks like in our house:

I know you must think I am crazy- heck, I think I am crazy- but we have less than 2 months until CK arrives and financially we are not ready for 2 children in diapers.

If some of you are new to the blog- well, we use cloth diapers on Nugs. We use BumGenius diapers and while the initial investement is quite high (think almost 20$ a diaper) it saves us money and the environment in the long run. So if we get Nugs potty trained before CK arrives then we don't have to buy new diapers! (if you have any questions on why I LOVE Bumgenius- let me know)

.

So we use our boon potty out in front of the TV so that she can be entertained while we are waiting for her to go "peepee". Yesterday was not so successful, but with the help of Miss Mary at daycare today we have gone "peepee" in the potty 5 times!!

No "poopoo" yet though.

.

Update: Nugs did sit on the potty one more time- I wasn't there to help her, but she sat down with her princess panties on and peed- then she went poop. So she attempted and then came to me for help. Not so much fun, but I was very proud of her for doing what she could to go in the potty.

Ode to Mother

Recently Nugs has been watching Peter Pan. They have a very touching little part about how we all need mothers and how much they do for us and love us.
.
So I have been thinking about my mother lately- and since it is her birthday today I thought I would post an Ode to my Mother.
Since I really don't know the definition of "ode" I will just write some good stuff about her.
.
While she didn't teach me my ABC's (thanks Ashley!), she taught me to get the most education possible.
.
While she didn't teach me how to shave my legs (OUCH! this was all about stealing my sister's razor and going at it... ), she taught me how to eat right and exercise so I have always been healthy.
.
While she didn't teach me about periods (thanks tampax box- I am forever scarred thinking about toxic shock syndrome), She taught me about the eternal blessings of a family and children.
.
While she didn't teach me how to kiss a boy (8th grade took care of that!), she taught me how to choose the right man to marry.
.
While she didn't teach me how to apply for a job (gotta love taqueria rosita in napa!), She taught me how to work hard and stick to your commitments.
.
While she didn't teach me how to burp (I think older siblings and girls camp did this), She taught me there is a time and a place for all things-and that you don't always have to act grown up.
.
While she didn't teach me how to blog (My friend Ashley from BYU introduced this one to me!), She taught me to always comment on other blogs!
.
While she didn't teach me how to use SKYPE (Thanks Rich), She taught me to anxiously wait everyday so Nugs and I can talk and see her before bed- tickles and kisses included.
.
While she didn't teach me how to mail a package (Thank you United States Post Office) She taught me that there is always a reason to send a package.
.
While she didn't teach me how to love (I believe that comes naturally), She has shown me love every single day of my life.

Can you believe it is almost time for another day like this one?

I love you mom!

Sunday Fun!

Today Nugs was so pretty and so cute at church. (taken with Rich's I-phone)

But in order to get to church we had to make sure we brought all the right toys.

Which means searching under the bed for that one random toy.

.

Wait, did I say one? The older man sitting behind us at church counted and told me that Nugs had more than 2 dozen toys to play with... Not quite sure what he meant by that... but I sure didn't worry about it because she was happy and quiet for the entire sacrament meeting.

Long Day

Even after a long day Nugs is still ready to play...
She loves pushing her dolls (shrek included) around in her big and little strollers.
You can tell it was a long day for her- right? The messy pig tails, the dirty face, the snot, and the undone onesie.
Well, maybe the long day was really her Mother's long day.
