This is for Ethan

Cousin Ethan loves to watch the "pictures that move" on the blog... so this is for you Ethan. I know it isn't very exciting, because CK doesn't do much- but she is trying to talk to you.
We are so excited for another cousin that will be just about CK's age. Ethan is going to be such a good big brother too!
.
We love you!!
.
Now here is a picture of what CK looks at during the day when she is playing. This little star gives us the much needed time to chase nugs, or take her potty, or get lunch ready, or get her dressed, or you get the picture.

2 Months already??

Don't know how it happened, but CK is 2 months old today! Some days it feels like it has been FOREVER... but other days it is like she just came yesterday.
.
I will post pictures later, but for now here are some stats:
.
22 inches (25-50%)
.
10lbs 6 ounces (25-50%)
.
She is cute as can be and the other night she slept from 7pm to 5am. Unfortunately I kept waking up and pumping because it really gets uncomfortable! We will see if this is a trend or not, but other than that she is wonderful to have around.
.
I do feel a little bad for Rich though. He had his first day taking a baby to the doctor for shots. Ouch! He was pretty upset for the little nugget #2.

Swimming

We spent some time swimming yesterday with the girls in their matching swimsuits. CK was sleeping inside and Nugs had a blast playing in the pool with mommy, daddy, and our friends the Bakers. At one point she convinced me she wanted to go inside so I took off her swimsuit. Then she turned around and ran straight for the pool again. I think she just takes after her Auntie Devyn and likes to be a "nakie girl".

Diaper Dance

Nugs is definitely not back in diapers, but Rich puts her in one for her nap. He also likes to spend time each day dancing with her. Here is a little clip of her dancing.

Mommy and Me

I tried to take some self portait pictures with Nugs and I. She wasn't having any of that. Well, she played along for a little bit.And that is all.

Big Blues

I believe these eyes are gonna stay blue. Not sure if the hair will stay red though. I think Uncle Zach is crossing his fingers for another red head.

Keep Climbing...

Look at how innocent she looks in the first picture. (Don't ask why I still have Easter stuff out!)She looks innocent until you realize that she is climbing again! I guess this stage happens for boys a lot earlier than girls. I just figured she wouldn't go through this stage of climbing on everything.
Oh well. It is pretty entertaining when she climbs.
Yesterday she climbed onto the big potty and peed. That was pretty hilarious. She almost fell in.

Fathers?? Seriously??

How did I not do a Father's Day post? What a horrible wife and daughter I am! Well, a day late works just fine for me.
.
Yesterday we had a good Father's Day at our house. When CK woke up at 5:30 to nurse I took her into the guest bedroom to sleep with her instead of back to our bed (which usually leads to waking Rich up). Then I let him sleep until 8am and the girls were just perfect and mostly quiet.
.
We had Orange Rolls for breakfast.
.
Nugs wouldn't let daddy open his card because it was a sound card and Nugs wanted to play with it all morning. But he did open his presents and got a new church book and a cool scripture marker with 8 COLORS! (oooohhh... aaaaahhhh...)
.
At church Rich got a new set of hair (if the kids sang good they could put ribbon on his head!) and a tie from Nugs.
.
Fajitas for dinner with peanut butter rice krispie treats for dessert. Followed by a little Disney Wheel of Fortune with the family.
.
Now is where I would normally list the 100 things that I love about Rich and my dad. but instead I am going to just say that I am so grateful for all the hard work Rich does for our girls and I hope some day they have an amazing relationship with their father as I do with mine. I love my dad and I am so thankful for him for a million reasons.
.
I love the fathers in my life!

Climbing the Ladder

We often think of climbing the ladder of success or in the business world- well Nugs is attempting to start this early. Oh wait, actually it is a real ladder that she is climbing. Don't be scared Grandma- she had parental supervision while attempting this feat.

Toys

Nugs loves to give her little sister toys. She will bring them to her all day long and then later realize she doesn't want to share them and she takes them back. Here is one of CK with Mr. Potato Head partsAnd this one is of her with a little piggy.

Maiden Voyage

Here is our maiden voyage with the double stroller:

"Look Mom! No Hands!" says CK. Nugs on the other hand looks a little nervous.

CK liked it more when she was sitting up, but Nugs thought it was much more fun to lie down and laugh.

Thanks Grandma Mingo for the stroller!

As Promised

Here are the Tea Party pictures! It was so cute and fun and the girls loved it!However, having ceramic dishes for two 2-year olds is a little risky.

The ingredients for a perfect tea party include:
1. Warm apple juice (tea)
2. Heart shaped sandwiches
3. Pudding
4. Strawberries
5. Chicken Noodle Soup
6. Grapes
7. Carrots
8. Mini cupcakes
9. A small orange puppy that can try all the food before you

And here is a video for the aunties and grandma's out there. Nugs has recently realized that she is one funny girl.

Tea Party

I braved the world and took Nugs and CK to the doctor today for Nugs 2 year well check up. Unfortunately the doctor was running an hour late so Nugs had quite the melt down. I am not sure if she had a melt down because she is two and tired and crabby... or if she realized that we were going to have to postpone the Tea Party we were going to have with her best friend.
.
Either way once she wakes up from her nap we are going to take mini cupcakes over to Miss KJ's house and have a tea party.
.
I will post pictures afterwards!
.
P.S. Nugs is 26 pounds (25%) and 34 Inches (15%)
.
She is a little short Nugget. I guess she gets that from Rich's side of the family. :)

True Picture of a Child

This picture captures Nugs in a moment of pure childhood happiness. Not a care in the world and she truly believes she owns the place and is the center of the universe. Only a stinky mommy who would pick her up and drag her off the hot tub cover could spoil this pure moment of bliss.
.
I didn't spoil her moment, she smelled like muddy water that had a dead fish in it... there was no way I was going to pick her up.
.
Now if only I knew how to edit and crop and enlarge and make this picture print worthy.

Too Much Fun

Nugs totally had too much fun playing in the pond with cousin Ethan. Cousin Ethan is old enough to stay out of the muddy water, but not Nugs...

And here is a pretty cute picture of Ethan if I do say so myself. :)

Haircut

Here is our first attempt at Nugs' first haircut:

And here is our second attempt:And success!

Thanks Auntie Devyn!

Grandma Great

It is so neat that my grandparents and parents live on the same property as my parents. That means every time we come to visit we get to see tons of the family and we love it!

It looks like CK loves it too.

We love Grandma!

We love coming to Grandma's house because she lets Nugs take baths in the sink.

Now really, what is better than that?

Congrats Zach

Well, I am a big fan of my baby brother Zach. When I was a senior in high school he was my best friend. I would ride a razor scooter to his elementary school with another scooter in my backpack and we would ride our razor scooters back home. Or other days I would ride the tandem bike to school and we would ride home with it. Basically these are the last memories I have of when I lived at home with him.
.
Oh yeah, and every night he would yell for me to tell him a story in bed and I would and we both always fell asleep before I told him even more than 5 minutes of a made up story.
.
Fast forward 7 years and here we are. He graduated #2 in his class and he spoke at graduation. He has a full ride scholarship to BYU and his list of accomplishments goes on and on.
I am so proud of him and the amazing young man that he has become. He is full of integrity and a strong sense of what is right. I can't think too much about him and how proud I am of him because it often makes me cry. He loves his family, his Savior, and the gospel. He is such a great example to us and I love that after school yesterday I asked him, "what are your friends up to?" and he said, "I don't know. I am hanging out with you guys today."
.
Congrats Z-Wag
p.s. this is the best family picture I could find. Nugs was hysterical on the ground and we only got half of me. I am okay with that though.

Found another

I found another picture- minus mom- but it was kind of a crazy night. Who takes their two year old and a newborn to graduation from 6-9pm at night??

I WON!

click here to find out what I won!
.
I used to enter blog contests all the time- but I haven't ever won anything- so I stopped entering. However, my friend from my hometown had a contest and I said, "what the heck" and entered.
.
Yippy! I am so excited.

Napa

I will post soon about our adventurous plane trip with two children- basically everything that went wrong did. It was hilarious.
.
But we are here in Napa now for my little brother's graduation from high school and I was searching through the pictures on my mom's computer and I found the most beautiful picture of my sister that I had to post.

Isn't she beautiful?

.

She is a superstar 3rd year law student who is working in San Francisco right now with her summer internship. I can't wait to see her and spend more time with her this week. Erin is such a good sister and never fails to acknowledge the wonderful things in life. I often get sweet notes in the mail telling me how great of a mommy I am and she always brings me to tears.

.

Not to mention that many of the tears are because she is hysterically funny.

homemade CK Nuggets

I think that this dinner is a new family favorite. These are my CK Nuggets! Homemade chicken nuggets using "Red Robin" seasoning, buttermilk, and more.
.
Nugs and I both ate a ton, Rich ate the left overs, and I am sure CK enjoyed them at a later time when she nursed.

Sunday, June 7, 2009

I took this video while I was driving. Not the best move on my part... but what is done is done.
Nugs loves her new CD of toddler tunes and she always asks for it when we are in the car. She constantly dances and makes hand motions and tries to sing along.
.
She can't actually sing any of the words, but she does sound like she is singing the right song.

Sleep Deprived?

Is this daddy sleep deprived?
(we all know the mommy in the house is...)

Potty?

I am not sure which picture is funnier- nope. I know. The top one.
.
Pretty much every day we find Nugs trying to potty train her baby dolls. I feel bad for CK when she is old enough to walk- Nugs will be dragging her and putting her in the potty.

My Lifesaver

This baby sling has been my lifesaver not only at home but at work. When I take CK to work I tuck her in her sling and I go about seeing all my patients without so much as a peep. She loves it and falls right to sleep when she is inside.
I have a blue one, but this one from my sister in law, Katie, is so much better! It even has a pocket for a pacifier and a cell phone.
.

Mascara Mishap

4 months ago I received the L'OREAL Paris Double Extend Mascara. Now this is the "beauty tubes technology". If you haven't heard of it- I am not surprised because I hadn't heard of it until they sent me a free sample. But basically beauty tubes means something along the lines of mascara that makes little clumpy tubes on your eye lashes.

I really had no problems with the mascara. It was nice because it didn't smear, smudge, or come off at anytime unless I was washing my face with soap and water. Perfect for labor and delivery with sweating and crying all in one. It also stays on overnight when you don't wash it off and it looks like you just put it on.
.
Here is the story- I would say about 10 weeks ago when my family came to visit for Giants Spring Training my sister Ashley borrowed my mascara. It looks like normal mascara and you put it on like normal mascara. She didn't know what "beauty tube technology" was.
.
Okay, I am going to stop right there. I am contemplating deleting the entire post, but I already started and I don't have anything else to write about... the reason being because this story is way funnier in my head than it is written down. But here is how it ends- basically when Ashley washed her face at night she thought her eyelashes had fallen out because the "tubes" wash off your eyelashes and end up on your hands or in the sink.
.
Moral of the story- Ashley is very book smart.
&
I need new mascara.

Hanging Out

So CK and I took a walk the other day and we decided to try out the baby bjorn. Nugs LOVED that thing, but this was prior to me having a baby sling- I will have to post a picture of my slings that I couldn't live without. Tomorrow I will do that.
.
Today I will mention that you don't look at my double chin in this picture. Oh great- now you just looked at it, didn't you?
.
Why can't I keep my mouth shut? You probably wouldn't have noticed the double chin if I hadn't said anything.
.
Some crazy people ask me if i have already lost my baby weight... well, no I haven't. I actually have approximately 25 more pounds to go!! (depending on when I nursed last :) )
.
Lucky for me, they are nice and say, "where do you have to lose it from?" Well, now I can tell them a big hunk of that is in my double chin.
